EP.8 A helper for “staying apart” in the new normal era

Despite realizing the need to maintain social distancing, many times we find ourselves getting close to others without realizing it. If you have this problem, you can be sure that you are not the only one.

Anyone can get too close or touch others unintentionally. That’s why there is an innovation for this problem.

Scottish company Reactec has created a wrist monitor similar to a wristwatch, that helps wearers maintain proper social distancing. When the wearer gets closer to another person than the set parameter, the device will vibrate, alerting the wearer to keep their distance. It is suitable for those working in offices or construction sites where workers must wander around working with others.

In Singapore, a robot dog has been introduced for the same purpose. This robot dog comes equipped with a camera to monitor people and a loudspeaker to broadcast social distancing warning messages to remind people to keep an appropriate distance. This robot dog is not just cute, but it can replace work previously performed by humans. Let’s give a round of applause to the inventors of these innovative solutions.
