The First Open Banking Hackathon competition held by Siam Commercial Bank’s SCB 10X during June 21-23, 2019 at Nap Lab Chula ended with overwhelming success with 24 teams of 117 new-generation system developers from universities and startups nationwide participating in.
The 2-day Hackathon contest proceeded intensively overnight for 2 days with mentors including Mr. Varat Vongmaneekit, Product Owner from Wisesight Co., Ltd.; Mr. Kittisak Panyajirakul, Innovation Team Lead from Sertis Co., Ltd. and Mr. Kaweewut Temphuwapat, Head of SCB 10X ready to provide advice to the participants. Top scorers in the three categories include Flipay (Lending Platform), MeGroup (Invoice System Fir B2B), and Salted Egg Bubble Tea (Chatbot Payment).
Mr. Kaweewut said SCB 10X believed local system developers are smart and skillful with capabilities second to none. It wants to give the system developers a venue to play a role in solving problems for better living of users. Simultaneously, the developers can prove themselves and unleash their capabilities. They will be given an opportunity to apply the Open Banking API for further development of products. What the bank wants to see from this venue is to brainstorm for the betterment of the country’s financial mechanism in the future.
